Celebrancy
Creating ceremonies together as individual as the lives and stories they honour.
Whether you are celebrating a marriage, remembering someone you love or marking another significant moment in your life, your ceremony deserves to feel personal, meaningful and true to you.
As an ordained Open Sanctuary minister and celebrant, I work alongside you to create ceremonies rooted in compassion, openness and respect for your individual beliefs and wishes.
I was drawn to Open Sanctuary through its commitment to serving all in love and compassion. Its vision of a living path to peace, purpose and belonging, open to all, strongly reflects my own values.
From joyful celebrations to tender farewells, my role is to help you honour the people, relationships and stories that matter to you most.
Ceremonies We Create
Weddings and Commitments
Legal Marriage Ceremonies
There is something rather wonderful about two people choosing to make a commitment to one another, and inviting the people who matter to them to witness it.
For me creating your wedding ceremony begins with getting to know you. Not just how you met, but what makes your relationship yours. The moments that have shaped you, the things that you value, what makes you smile, and what the promises you are about to make really mean to you as a couple.
I’m particularly drawn to symbolism and ritual and the ways these can help us express something that words alone sometimes cannot. We might draw inspiration from nature, the elements or Celtic traditions, explore a handfasting or another symbolic ritual, or something entirely new together. Equally, your ceremony may be simple and without any spiritual elements at all. There is room for your beliefs, your questions and your own understanding of what this moment means.
Recognised by the Registrar General, my authorisation to conduct a legal marriage is part of my membership with Open Sanctuary.
Vow Renewals and Commitment Ceremonies
Not every commitment begins with a wedding, and sometimes the promises we make deserve to be revisited.
Whether you are celebrating a significant anniversary, reaffirming your commitment after years of shared experiences, or choosing to honour your relationship without a legal marriage, we can create a ceremony that acknowledges where you have been and what you are choosing together now.
Funerals and Celebrations of Life
Every life holds a story, and a funeral gives us an opportunity to pause and remember the person who has died.
I will spend time with you, listening to your memories and learning about the person you knew and are honouring. Not simply the milestones in their life, but the little things that made them who they were: their character, relationships, passions, quirks and the way they touched the lives of others.
The ceremony will reflect the person you knew, capturing something of who they were in the words and stories shared, so that those gathered find familiar memories and perhaps discover something about them they hadn’t known before.
Together, we can create a farewell that makes room for remembrance, gratitude, sadness, love and whatever else needs to be present. We might include music, readings, personal tributes or symbolic rituals, drawing on spiritual or secular traditions according to your wishes.
What matters most to me is creating a space where everyone whose life has been touched by the person who has died can honour the life lived, remember in their own way and have time to say goodbye.
Blessings & Life’s other Thresholds
Some moments in life deserve to be marked, even when there is no established ceremony for them.
From welcoming a new child through a naming or blessing ceremony to acknowledging a new beginning, a significant change or an important milestone, ceremony offers an opportunity to pause and recognise what this moment means.
We can create something just for you or shared with friends, drawing on the words and traditions that hold significance for you.
And if you have something in mind that doesn’t fit neatly into a category, i would love to hear from you. I am a firm believer that we can never have enough ceremony, celebration or reflection in life.
Begin the Conversation
Whether you have a particular ceremony in mind or are simply beginning to explore the possibilities, I’d love to hear what you’re thinking. We can start with a conversation and see what we might create together.
